On January 13, 2016 the Hungarian Unitarian Church honours the 448th anniversary of the Declaration of Religious Freedom and Tolerance, an edict which might be considered as the first legal guarantee of religious freedom in the Christian Europe.

The deadline for submitting nominations and seconds for the 2016-2018 Executive Committee is coming up fast.  If someone from your member group is a potential candidate, particularly for Member-at-Large, or for the Nominating Committee, we'd like to have their nomination form from you, as well as a seconding form from another member group, by February 1.

Dear Unitarian Universalists and liberal religious brothers and sisters worldwide,

On behalf of our liberal religious association Vrijzinnigen Nederland I wish an inspiring and healthy 2016 for you, and for your association and churches a prosperous and fruitful year.  

For us this is a special year in which the International Conference of Unitarians and Universalists will be held in the Netherlands in Mennorode Elspeet the 17th – 22nd  July.

Violence in Burundi has escalated with government forces killing civilians, leaving the bodies in the streets to further terrorise their people. The still active charges against the leader of the Burundi Unitarians are now being used to seek to arrest and intimidate the lawyers and those of others faiths who were of assistance.

Plans for 2016 Council Meeting & Drafts New 2020 Vision

The next ICUU Council Meeting and Conference will be held from July 16 to 23, 2016 at the Mennorode Conference in Nuspeet, The Netherlands. In mid-July, the ICUU Executive Committee met on- site to review plans for the event while holding their annual face to face meeting. An announcement of the theme and of further details is planned for September.

A new 2020 Vision for the ICUU emerged from a face to face meeting of the Executive Committee (ICUU EC) last week in the Netherlands.
