What is the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists? The ICUU is a 12-year old organization that has met every two years around the world ever since its founding in 1995. Starting with a small founding meeting in Essex, Massachusetts in 1995, the biennial gathering of representatives has slowly expanded its range of national member groups and representation and its participants and non-delegate representatives. U*U individuals are welcomed, and specific program items are designed to foster and nurture better international understanding among all members of our global community. So, what happens there? Opportunities. Surprises. Meetings. Workshops. Cultural Events. Displays. At the 2007 Council we will showcase specific member groups. There will be seminars on various issues and RE curricula units on the history and culture of U*U. There will be daily worship/ devotions. You can participate in song and dance. Time and space for personal interactions are provided. Drama and debate. We will encourage participant input about the future direction of ICUU programs. The venue? A superbly appointed youth hostel, nestling beneath an ancient hill-top castle at the wonderful World Heritage Site of Oberwesel, overlooking the River Rhine. Come and explore its history, traditions and natural beauty. What will it cost?
